Collaborative Meeting on the Future of Health and Welfare Services

On Friday, 24 October, representatives from Veltek, the Healthcare Institution of North Iceland (HSN), Heilsuvernd, and the Municipality of Akureyri met at HSN’s Sunnuhlíð facilities. The purpose of the meeting was to explore opportunities to strengthen collaboration in order to improve services for residents through innovative solutions, increased cooperation, and strategic implementation of welfare technology.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on creating synergy across different systems – where municipalities, healthcare institutions, and private providers work together toward a common goal: delivering better, safer, and more efficient services for users, regardless of which service system they belong to.

Increasing pressure calls for new solutions

National trends show a rapidly aging population and a growing number of individuals requiring services. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly challenging to recruit staff in health and welfare services, while the cost of service provision continues to rise. In this context, new approaches are needed – where technological innovation, integrated services, and coordinated planning play a key role.

“By leveraging welfare technology, we can ensure that the services of the future are both efficient and human-centered – where technology does not replace the presence and personal care provided by staff, but rather supports it and empowers individuals in managing their own well-being.”

Veltek leads cooperation for the future

The meeting marks the beginning of a joint action plan, where stakeholders will work together to develop new service models, pilot innovative solutions, and evaluate outcomes with the needs of users at the forefront.
