On January 13, the conference “The Future is at Home” was held by Icepharma, focusing on the development of health and welfare services in line with the changing needs of society. A representative from Veltek attended the conference, which was both insightful and inspiring. There was strong alignment among participants on the importance of strategically leveraging technology to strengthen welfare services.
The conference brought together key stakeholders from the Icelandic healthcare system, along with numerous experts working on the development and implementation of solutions in health and welfare services. Representatives from Sjúkrahúsið á Akureyri (SAk), Emilía Fönn Andradóttir, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Eva Hilmarsdóttir, RN, MSc, delivered a presentation entitled “Telehealth Services: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Future of Healthcare at SAk.”
They work at the SAk Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic, providing monitoring and outpatient services for individuals with Type 1 diabetes, complex Type 2 diabetes, and insulin-dependent gestational diabetes. In their presentation, they discussed structured steps taken to utilize technology in patient care and how telehealth solutions can enhance safety, accessibility, and efficiency.
The key messages of the conference reflect Veltek’s vision: that future welfare services must be built on the integration of technology, professional expertise, and a user-centered approach. For services to evolve in step with current demands and societal developments, collaboration between public authorities, healthcare professionals, and innovation companies is essential. A platform such as this conference is an important part of that journey.
